Overview

Manlio Francesco Coviello is a recognized expert in energy transition, critical minerals and sustainable development, with extensive experience in both academia and industry. He currently serves as Chairman of Energy Dome Latam Spa.  

Previously, he held leadership roles as Chairman of the Board at TERNA PLUS and CEO of Terna Uruguay, Terna Chile, Terna Peru and Terna Brasil. Before that, he was Chief of the Energy & Mining Department at the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America (ECLAC).

In academia, Dr. Coviello is Assistant Professor in Energy Planning at the Catholic University of Chile and Associate Professor in Energy Transition at the Polytechnic University of Turin, where he also co-coordinates the International Master on Climate Change.

His expertise has been recognized through participation in prestigious advisory boards, including:

  • Energy Center, Polytechnic Univ. Turin, PoliTO (Italy);   
  • Future of Energy Storage programme, MIT (USA); 
  • Harvard Electricity Policy Group, HARVARD Kennedy School Government (USA);
  • Climate CoLab’s, Collective Intellig. Center, Mass. Institute of Technology, MIT (USA);  
  • American Business Dialogue - Energy & Natural Resources Group – IADB (USA);

In 2012, he served as a Senior Fellow Professor at the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS) in Potsdam, Germany, collaborating with Nobel Laureate Carlo Rubbia on advanced materials and technologies for renewable energy and storage. More recently, in April 2024, he acted as a Senior Consultant for the Bureau of Intelligence, U.S. Department of State, advising on nearshoring strategies for critical minerals.

Dr. Coviello holds a Doctorate (Cum Laude) in Geophysics from Genoa University and a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from Bocconi University, Milan.
