Overview

With a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a PhD in Energy Engineering, he is a Full Professor of Technical Environmental Physics at the Energy Department (TEBE research group) of Politecnico di Torino. 

Since March 18, 2024, he has served as Rector of Politecnico di Torino for the 2024-2030 term. His research focuses on energy-efficient buildings, indoor environmental quality, and user behavior impact on energy consumption, with collaborations across top universities like Cambridge, Danish Technical University, Istanbul Technical University, LBL, Aalborg, and Coimbra. He has authored over 450 scientific and technical publications.

He also holds key institutional roles, including President of NODES Scarl, President of the Scientific Committee of Consorzio UNIVER, and Vice President of the Centro Studi sul Federalismo. He sits on the Boards of Fondazione AMMA and the Center for Circular Economy in Coffee (Fondazione Lavazza) and is Vice President of the Torino Innovation Mile Committee and the Scientific Advisory Board for Città dell’Aerospazio.

At Politecnico di Torino, he has held several leadership roles, including Vice Rector for Research and Head of Internal Policies, chairing key university commissions on research centers, partnerships, and regulations.

In the energy sector, he has been a Board Member of AiCARR, Vice President, Treasurer, and President of REHVA, and a Sub-Task Leader for the International Energy Agency. He was also part of STEMI, the Italian government's expert group on sustainable mobility and infrastructure.

In public administration, he served as Councillor for Environment and Urban Development (2004-2010) and Mayor of Livorno Ferraris (2013-2023). Since 2013, he has been a member of the Executive Committee of ATO-2 Piemonte, managing integrated water resources.
